• In 2015 the average time spent on social networks per day was 1.72 hours, and per week it was 27 hours. In 2018 this has increased.
• Statistics from American sources say 41% of teens have had negative experiences as a result of social media
• 55% of teens haven given out personal information to someone they didn’t know, including photos and physical descriptions.

• 88% said they liked social media
• 80% said they spend more than 2 hours on social media
• 55% said they felt insecure when looking at others on social media
• 77% said they felt they would do better in school without social media
• 89% said they think that social media has an impact on mental wellbeing (negative)
• 12% said they had been bullied about the way they look on social media (indirect or direct)
• 63% said they would like more social media awareness in schools/colleges
